The Lord wants to be with you
“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” ~ Genesis 3:8 NKJV
Adam and Eve heard God as He was walking towards them in the garden of Eden. This shows that they could still hear Him, but something had changed. They could only hear Him from a distance, but they no longer wanted God to be close to them. There was no more intimacy. Adam and Eve had covered themselves in fig leaves and hid from the Lord’s presence. The enemy’s sole desire is to divide us from God the Father. And he uses the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life to separate us from the love of God.
We, God’s children, need to understand how the enemy operates to separate us from our Father God by using guilt, shame, and fear to cause us to hide from Him and others. God loves us with agape love — a love without expectations and conditions. He demonstrates His love towards us when we have nothing to offer. Jesus Christ lays his life down for us, so we can have a relationship with Him. We must continue to fight against those feelings and emotions within us that cause us not to love ourselves, and hinder our relationships with God and others. We must decide that being in His presence is the most important thing to us and we can’t live without the Lord's presence.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” ~ Romans 5:8 NKJV
“Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.” ~ Psalms 51:11 NIV
Now I recognize that You, Lord desire my presence more than anything. And You desire that I would seek for your presence for my life also. Rather than seeking regulations and rituals, we are to seek the heart and will of God.
Something to consider today: Do you ever feel separated from God? Do you walk in guilt, shame, and fear? How do you deal with your emotions and feelings?
TODAY PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Lord, help me to walk in step with You and Your will. And I desire your presence in my life. Thank You for the Holy Spirit, who never leaves me. And I am so grateful for You, Lord for loving me at my worst and consistently extending grace to me, and never leaving me alone in my sin.
In Jesus' name, AMEN!
